Today, we celebrate the women of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, much like we strive to do every day. We are extremely proud to be a women-led Ministry, and privileged to have a group of diverse and consistently exceptional women on our team.
Happy International Women’s Day to the women of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance and to women all across Guyana who continue to be fundamental cornerstones of our homes, families, communities and country!

GOAL Scholarship outreach at the St. John the Baptist Primary School

Minister Gail Teixeira, MP, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance and Regional Member of Parliament for Region 7, and Hon. Sonia Parag M.P., Minister of Public Sevice, are currently in Bartica, Region 7 conducting a GOAL Scholarship outreach at the St. John the Baptist Primary School.
Following this morning’s scholarship outreach, the Ministers will conduct another session from 1 to 3 PM regarding applications for part-time employment opportunities for the people of Region 7.

Top 16 NGSA Performers from Region 7 receive Mobile Tablets

Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, Hon. Gail Teixeira M.P., on November 11 held an award ceremony at the Potaro Primary School with the top 16 National Grade Six Assessment performers from the Region.
Minister Teixeira began this tradition in 2021, and keeping with the commitment made at that ceremony, returned to Region 7 in 2022 to meet with the top performers to reward them for their outstanding achievements.
The students were presented with mobile tablets to improve connectivity for classes, research and all other online resources. Each student was also in receipt of a letter from the Minister encouraging continued success and motivating them to remain committed to both their academic studies and extra-curricular activities.
Tokens were delivered to students from Jawalla and Waramadong, who could not be at the ceremony.

Happy Diwali

Staff at the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance today kicked off Diwali celebrations with lots of great seven curry, sweet meats, and a beautiful rangoli design.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Awareness and education are key in curbing the misinformation and fear regarding cancer in all its manifestations, especially breast cancer. Better information ultimately creates more opportunities for destigmatised screenings and early detection; helping to reduce risks and save lives!
We’ve come a far way and it’s bound to be a long journey. The Minister and staff of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance are proud to both witness and participate in the campaigns that see many people becoming more involved year after year!

Residents of Kalcoon receive new brushcutter

Today, staff of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance paid a visit to the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Children and Family Centre in Georgetown, Guyana. The Ministry donated approximately 100 toys to the facility to cater for children and families to whom the center provides a range of services. Administrator of the Center, Ms. Gentle explained that the donation comes at a good time, as the children at the center are always grateful for supplies not just during the holiday season but throughout the year. The women-led agency is one of the numerous facilities across the country that provide services for vulnerable children and families through funding from the Government of Guyana.

Outreach and Community Meeting in Batavia

Scenes from Minister Teixeira’s outreach and community meeting in Batavia in the Cuyuni River. The community meeting, which is the second one facilitated in Batavia over the past twelve months, provides residents with the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with the Minister who in turn advocates for the needs of the community across various sectors. The Minister’s team also distributed GOAL scholarship applications, Guyana School of Agriculture student application forms, birth, death, and marriage registration forms and key other information booklets, including WIIN fliers and Budget 2022 at a Glance.
